Why Choose Cellulose?

Cellulose insulation offers several key advantages, making it a popular choice for energy-efficient building projects. Made primarily from recycled paper products, it is an environmentally friendly option with a lower carbon footprint compared to many synthetic insulations. It provides excellent thermal performance and air sealing, helping to reduce heating and cooling costs. Its dense composition also gives it superior soundproofing capabilities and better resistance to air infiltration. Additionally, cellulose is treated with non-toxic fire retardants, giving it good fire resistance and making it a safer option for residential use. Its ability to conform tightly to wall cavities and irregular spaces enhances its insulating effectiveness.

Cellulose insulation can be a better option than injection foam or fiberglass insulation for several reasons, depending on your priorities. First, it's one of the most environmentally friendly choices, made from up to 85% recycled paper, whereas fiberglass and foam rely on more energy-intensive manufacturing and non-renewable materials. In terms of air sealing, while foam has the edge, dense-pack cellulose still significantly reduces air leakage and fits tightly around irregular cavities, unlike fiberglass batts, which can leave gaps. Cellulose also provides excellent soundproofing and has better fire resistance than fiberglass, thanks to fire-retardant treatments. Unlike injection foam, cellulose doesn't off-gas potentially harmful chemicals during or after installation. Additionally, cellulose is often more cost-effective than injection foam and easier to install in retrofit situations without major remodeling.
